Konro Grill, Table Barbecue 69cm
A traditional Japanese charcoal grill designed for precision heat control, clean cooking, and large scale Konro style grilling with maximum impact.
Product Description
The Konro Grill, Table Barbecue 69cm is a traditional Japanese charcoal grill crafted from diatomaceous earth, a natural material formed from fossilised marine algae. This highly insulating structure allows the grill to retain and concentrate heat, delivering efficient, controlled cooking using minimal fuel.
As the largest model in the range, this Konro offers an expansive cooking surface ideal for entertaining and high volume grilling. The extended width and depth allow for multiple rows of skewers, larger ingredients, and greater flexibility when cooking for groups.
The long, narrow design allows skewers to be placed directly across the grill without the need for a grate, creating the ideal setup for yakitori and traditional Japanese grilling. When using the included grill grate, the open structure allows heat to pass through efficiently, making it well suited to meat, fish, and vegetables.
The insulating properties of the grill mean food cooks quickly without harsh direct heat, helping to retain moisture and enhance natural flavour. This style of cooking has been used in Japan since the Edo period and remains central to traditional charcoal grilling techniques.
Bring the Izakaya Home
Inspired by Japanese Izakaya cooking, this Konro grill is designed for shared, social grilling at scale. Whether placed at the table or used as part of an outdoor setup, it allows multiple diners to cook and enjoy food over glowing charcoal.
From long rows of yakitori skewers to seafood and vegetables, the Konro creates a focused cooking environment that encourages precision and consistency, even when cooking for larger groups.
Authentic Craftsmanship
These genuine Konro grills are produced by Kaginushi Kogyo, a family business with roots in fishing and traditional craftsmanship. Established in 1932, the company developed expertise in the production of diatomaceous earth bricks, which led to the creation of their renowned Konro grills.
Today, these grills are valued for their unique cooking performance and are used by chefs and restaurants around the world.
Why Use Binchotan Charcoal
For the best results, this grill is designed to be used with Binchotan charcoal. This traditional Japanese charcoal burns cleanly and consistently, producing very little smoke or flame.
The result is a stable cooking environment that enhances the natural flavour of ingredients without overpowering them. Food cooks evenly and retains its moisture, making it ideal for both delicate ingredients and high heat grilling.
Binchotan briquettes offer a more accessible alternative, delivering similar performance at a lower cost while maintaining a clean burn.
Due to its density, Binchotan can take longer to light, but once established it provides a steady, reliable heat that defines Konro cooking.
